How We Can Help

Our Experience, Your Future

Harvest Youth Ministries started as the dream of a disillusioned youth pastor.  "Invite your friends!"  "Free pizza!"  The programs were in place but the youth group wasn't growing.  The same kids showed up to the same events, but it was rare that a new face was seen.  So what do we do?

Jim realized that instead of inviting the youth to come to the church, the church needed to go to them!  And just like that, beginning in 1998, Harvest Youth Ministries has launched a number of initiatives, targeting area youth in a variety of ways to make the gospel both accessible and engaging.  Each program was targeted to meet specific needs in our community, but we would love to come alongside you to brainstorm and share our experience to help you reach your city!

Harvest Clubs

Harvest Clubs was the initiative that moved Harvest Youth from a dream to a reality.  After working with youth in the church and the community, we found that there were specific areas of interest that could be used to bring youth into our buildings.  For us, it was skateboarding and concerts.  The goal was two-fold.  First, we wanted to simply provide a safe atmosphere for youth, specifically on Friday and Saturday nights.  Second, we wanted to be available to answer their spiritual and life questions when they came up.  We began our events with a team Bible study that was open to the public and then we encouraged our team of volunteers to move beyond the "duties" of running the event and into building relationships with the youth that attended.  What events or environments would encourage the youth in your city to come to you?  How can you leverage those opportunities to share the gospel?

Princess Program

Over time, one of the groups that stood out as both needing and wanting additional information was teenage girls.  As we got to know this more specific population, we realized that we could offer them both spiritual counseling and mentoring in a unique way.  We sent home letters, clearing our plans with their parents, and then met with them weekly for a period of time.  We completed workbooks, had game nights, ate dinner together, and formed bonds that stood the test of time.  Whenever a group finished a study we would schedule a Princess Night.  These ladies were treated to a night on the town as a reward for their efforts - fancy dresses, limousines, and a delicious dinner!  This was a great incentive to encourage attendance and completion of the programs!  What group in your community needs more indepth attention?  What programs and rewards could you use to engage them?

Here to Help

In addition to the programs listed above, we are currently offering Harvest House, Harvest Helps, Thought 4 Today, and Second Harvest Thrift Store to our community.  These were all designed to meet needs that we saw in our community, but that are not unique to our community.  For information on starting programs listed above similar to our active programs, please feel free to contact us.

We would love to help you think through the logistics of reaching your community and using our knowledge to help you build the right program to meet their specific needs!

The Great Commission

Great Commission

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

— Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 28:19-20)
