DUI?
Before I was a Christian, I'm sad to say I was guilty of driving under the influence on more than one occasion. As I look back through those ghastly years, I honestly can't think of a single thing I ever accomplished while I was drinking that was worthy of praise. What's more, just about everything I'm truly sorry for I did while I was intoxicated. It's no wonder the Apostle Paul uses drunkenness in contrast to being "filled with the Spirit" in his plea to Ephesian Christians who were "tipping a few!" It's a perfect analogy. In either case a person is "under the influence" of something. These days, I'm still a puppet to something that intoxicates me, but the puppet master is trustworthy. These days I'm strictly a "soft" drink man! Unlike alcohol, my Lord has great things in store for me when I give Him control.
"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit." Ephesians 5:18
