A Nasty Little Habit (Part 2)
Christians can often be the owners of a nasty little habit if they're not really careful, and real prayerful. Once we're faced with our sinful nature and our need for salvation, we give our lives to Christ, get involved in the church, go to Bible studies, and even grow in our relationships with Christ. Unfortunately, after a few years, we can begin to forget how worthless we were without Him. Pride sneaks in, and it destroys what otherwise would be an awesome Christian witness. It will be a rare churchgoer who hasn't seen it in others, and an even rarer one who hasn't felt at least a hint of it in themselves. Still, I think the worst part is that the Lord also sees it, and so do the non-Christians we're supposed to be witnessing to. So grab that Bible and hit your knees... even a short break in your relationship with Christ can spell defeat in the long run.
"These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand [or your witness] from its place." Jesus of Nazareth (Revelation 2:1a-5)
