St. Valentine?
St. Valentine's Day is a quite peculiar holiday. Officially celebrated since AD 490, most historical documents suggest St. Valentine was a priest or a bishop in the Catholic church who was beheaded in Rome on Feb 14th, either for refusing to deny his Christian faith or for some similar infraction. What has come of the holiday is, of course, quite secular, and most would agree it has nothing to do with the church or the Christian faith any longer. Some even suggest that since mid February is the time of year that birds begin to pick partners and mate the "love" nature of the holiday was inserted by completely non-biblical influences. I personally find if interesting that many Muslim countries forbid their people from celebrating the holiday, which they see as both Christian, and also quite sexual in nature. In my house I simply use the celebration to remind my wife and my daughters that they are precious to me (and to God), and that "Love" requires much commitment and sacrifice on the part of the lover and that I am willing to make those sacrifices for them. No doubt Jesus gave us the greatest example of those facts, committing everything to regain a relationship with us, even to the point of sacrificing His life on the Cross.

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
In Christ,
